Shelley had her appointment with the oncologist on Thursday. She met with Dr. Jilani, and after a long appointment she was told that her tumor was going to be sent out for another test, being Oncotype Dx. The results from this test will tell what type of treatment that will be needed, but again she will have to wait for the results another 4 weeks. Shelley’s next appointment will be March 6 with Dr. Jilani.
Next Tuesday she will visit Dr. Johnson again for another check up.

Today Shelley went back to Dr. Johnson’s office and had her drain tubes removed. Over the past several days the drain tubes have been bugging her. She has not been sleeping that well over the last several nights, due to the drain tubes. Several days ago she had stopped taking her pain medicine and is doing well with the pain.
Shelley also received a telephone call from Dr. Heck’s office with the results from the pathology test. She was told that the tumor was 1cm, the margins were negative and the 2 lymph nodes that were removed were also negative.
Once again she has to wait, due to Dr. Heck going out of town for the weekend, and when he returns on Monday we will find out what stage she is and what the next step is going to be.
Thanks for all your thoughts and prayers, the power of prayer is awesome. I still ask that you keep her in your prayers. What a happy day!

Shelley in front of the flowers from the gang at aerobics, and all the cards she's received.

On Monday January 26, Shelley visited Dr. Johnson for her first check up since her operation. Dr. Johnson decided to keep the drain tubes in (hopefully will be getting them out towards the end of the week) and he is also keeping the bolsters on until next Friday. The bolsters are stitched around the areola to hold the areola and nipple in place. Shelley’s left breast was a little more red than Dr. Johnson likes, so he changed Shelley’s antibiotic medicine. Shelley is taking less of her pain medicine, which is good.
Please keep Shelley in your thoughts and prayers, and thanks for all the cards, flowers, gifts and dinners it truly means a lot to her.

Today is a great day, I bought Shelley home from the Hospital around 2:30. Shelley is still in a little pain but she is glad to be home.

What a day that Shelley had, she started out at 8am arriving at the hospital for her surgery. After getting checked in and the pre-op was waiting for her she was taken straight to pre-op to get ready for the operation. A little before 9:00am Dr. Heck put the dye into her breast. The dye was to tell Dr. Heck if the cancer had spread to her lymph nodes, he would not know until he opened up Shelley. After that Dr. Heck rushed off to warm up with another surgery.
Around 11:15am Shelley was taken back to operating room for the surgery. Around 1:50pm Dr. Heck completed his part of the surgery. He told us that Shelley is doing good and that the dye that he injected earlier showed that the lymph nodes were negative. He further advised that he removed the two lymph nodes so that they can be biopsied to see for sure if the cancer has not spread to the lymph nodes. Dr. Heck stated that there is a small chance that the cancer still could of spread with the negative reading from the dye, but he was happy with the out come of the surgery. I then asked him if he knew what stage she was. He stated that he would not know until he gets the report from the biopsy, but he did say that she is probably a stage 1. He then left and went back into the operating room to observe the last of the reconstruction that Dr. Johnson was doing.
Around 3:15 pm Dr. Johnson completed the reconstruction of Shelley. He told us that everything went as scheduled and that he was pleased with the out come. Shelley was then in recovery until 6:00 pm and She finally got to her room around 6:45.
Shelley is doing good resting and in a little bit of pain, with the help of her pain medicine.
We will not know what kind of treatment that she will have until the bio report comes back. They said that the report would be done in 4 to 5 business days. A little more waiting.
I can’t think everyone enough for their prayers, telephone calls, texts, emails, stopping by the house, and coming by the hospital. It has been a trying time for Shelley and I believe with all my heart that GOD touched her. I also know that Shelley wants think everybody for the Prayers and all the thought fullness that has been shown during this time. I will still ask that you keep Shelley in your prayers while she begins the healing process and that the bio report shows the same as the dye did.
I will try to update this as new information comes along.

God bless everyone

Darryl
